Edina Halmai is a skilled felt-maker who blends traditional Hungarian motifs with modern clothing and fashion accessories. She initially found her passion in this craft and refined her techniques through a two-year program at the Hungarian Heritage House, where she studied nomadic felt-making methods and its application in contemporary design.
She frequently collaborates with leatherworker and fellow Tulipán grantee Veronika Somos to create harmonious designs that merge tradition with modern simplicity. Her work has been featured in several prestigious exhibitions, including the Spirit-Presence-Existence Exhibition in Tokyo and the Kéz-Mű-Remek Exhibition in Budapest. She also received the title of Applied Folk Artist and a Golden Certificate at the Living Folk Art - National Folk Art Exhibition.
With the support of the Tulipán Foundation, Edina explored traditional Hungarian furrier and designed modern ensembles inspired by historical women’s leather and felt clothing from Baranya County.
